NYU Shanghai faculty and researchers can now monitor current and historical news, and social media posts in Chinese, thanks to a generous gift from H&T Information & Service Co. Ltd., a data intelligence solution provider specializing in data analysis and commercial insight.
It was a tri-party collaboration between Mr. Zhang Feng, General Manager of H&T Information & Service Co. Ltd.; NYU Shanghai Center for Business Education and Research (CBER); and NYU Shanghai Library. The gift, allowing NYU Shanghai community to its platform, is valued at RMB 2.8 million.
To mark this occasion, an information session was organized by NYU Shanghai Library and CBER on Tuesday, September 17 and held at the Curiosity Lab inside the Library. In this session, Mr. Zhang Feng demonstrated the powerful search and analysis function of the tool and shared case studies where H&T was used for businesses, to a group of students, faculty, and librarians.
The H&T (慧思拓) platform aggregates various Chinese media sources such as newspapers, magazines, online news, blogs, forums, WeChat, video, to allow for web search and trend analysis. It allows for opinion monitoring, crisis warning, media research, Internet word-of-mouth research and marketing effectiveness evaluation.
“This database offers our students and researchers an option to search and quickly analyze a broad range of news and social media content in China, and provides insights for business and social sciences researchers alike.” said NYU Shanghai’s Library Director Zu Xiaojing.
“We hope that our students and researchers will take advantage of this opportunity to explore new areas of research about Chinese companies and brands. The potential to uncover valuable insights about a particular marketing campaign, brand or company is limitless.” said Professor Chen Yuxin, Dean of Business and Distinguished Global Network Professor at NYU Shanghai, and director of CBER.
Mr. Zhang is leading the H&T team to provide service to clients, such as FAW-VW, Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and Redbull, in a number of vertical industries such as automotive, communications, home appliances, technology, finance, healthcare, media, retail, tobacco, consumer packaged goods, industrial products, and public affairs.
